Mario Forever Remake (previously stylized as Mario Forever REMAKE, often abbreviated as MFRemake or MFR, initially called New Mario Forever), as the name suggests, is a complete remake of the game Mario Forever, created by TheMarioVariable and developed by the Forever Team (formerly Mario Forever Remake Group Team). This, like the original, is a PC fan-game based on one of the most popular Nintendo games, Super Mario Bros. This remake is intended to be an unofficial update of Mario Forever 4.4, which is the latest that uses the same layout as Mario Forever Remake. The game has been developed using a heavily fixed version of an editor file found in the folder of a really old version of Mario Worker, and is made with Clickteam Fusion 2.5 (Multimedia Fusion until MFRemake v2.3).

Development

Development for Mario Forever Remake started in Autumn 2013, when TheMarioVariable decided to make a proof of concept of Mario Forever's World 1 levels, as well as the same Main Menu, Save Game Room and introduction as the ones in v2.16. Then, he decided to release this game privately to his closest friends as "New Mario Forever" v0.1. Syzxchulun, one of the people who got this demo, liked the idea, and asked TheMarioVariable to expand this demo and fully incorporate the ideas in a full game. The two then started remaking the remaining levels, with some other friends of Syzxchulun contributing in level editing and beta testing.

Once 2014 has arrived, the first version of the game was finished. Syzxchulun decided to release the game, now called "Mario Forever REMAKE", in two different iterations for each continent that the developers live in; TheMarioVariable in Europe as the "PAL version", and Syzxchulun in China. Syzxchulun released the game for the first time on January 30, 2014 in China. In Europe, instead, for celebrating the tenth anniversary of Mario Forever v2.16 release, TheMarioVariable chose to release it on February 4, 2014. Since then, the game had a lot of attention from fans' side, and with time incoming, it had more updates, and people wanted to help TheMarioVariable with such project since v2.0.

Since v3.0, Mario Forever Remake has totally been recreated from scratch by TheMarioVariable and Crist1919 with a better polished engine made by the former, which makes the game more playable and fixes many bugs and lags that were found in older versions of MFR. Credits are due to the people who first remade the worlds however, and the levels remain the same.

Since v4.0, TheMarioVariable applied a lot of drastic changes to the game and the team itself, now being completely different from the Chinese iteration.

Chinese Edition and European Edition

Actually, Mario Forever Remake project is conducted by two teams: One is Remake Group led by Syzxchulun for Chinese edition, and the other one is Forever Team led by TheMarioVariable for European edition. In v1.0, the nuances between Chinese and European edition of Mario Forever Remake appeared, and since v1.5 (European version) and v1.7 (Chinese version), a distinguishing difference of contents has been existing between the two editions. To distinguish European/Chinese version from Chinese/European one, Mario Forever Remake (Chinese), or MFRemake (CN) in short, is resorted to call the version made by Remake Group while Mario Forever Remake (European), or MFRemake (EU) in short, to the edition by Forever Team.

By default, if no extra description, in this page all "Mario Forever Remake"s are hereinafter referred to as "Mario Forever Remake (European)"
