Hardcore World 1-4 is the fourth and final level of Hardcore World 1 in Mario Forever and its fan-made remake, Mario Forever Remake. The level resembles a familiar castle but harder and with a red gradient where the player gets to fight Bowser in it. It's also famous for having the well known 'Level 7-4 Hardcore 1-4' sign.

Bowser Battle

Bowser this time has 8 HP, and is kind of similar to how he acted in World 6 and World 7. However, he carries a Bill Blaster which can fire a Bullet Bill to the player. If the player defeats him, they will unlock Hardcore World 2 with a message saying 'Hardcore World 2 Is Unlocked !!!'.

Tips

When the Bill Blaster shoots, it can be a matter of luck to jump on it and hit Bowser's head. So if the player is in a dead end and found a Bullet Bill, then it's their only option to not get hit by Bowser's fires. Sometimes, Bowser can fire his flames and launch a Bullet Bill in the same time.

A Fire Flower can be so helpful to defeat him quickly, But the player must still watch out for the Bullet Bills.

Soundtracks

  • Kōji Kondō, "Castle Theme" ( From Super Mario World 2 : Yoshi's Island on the Super NES, 1995 ).

This is actually an unofficial 'Fart castle' remix in which most of the instrument samples were replaced by fart made from mouth noises. The author of this joke is unknown, but it is implied to be Buziol Games' doing.

Enemies

  • ∞ Bullet Bills
  • 27 Bill Blasters ( 1 held by Bowser )
  • 19 Stone Spinies ( 18 in the original )
  • 16 Podoboos ( 8 in the first lava gap, 8 in the third lava gap )
  • 15 Roto-discs
  • 13 Yellow Cheep Cheeps
  • 4 Blue Cheep Cheeps
  • Bowser

Level Statistics

  • 20 Coins
  • 4 Super Mushrooms
  • 4 Fire Flowers
  • 1-UP Mushroom

Level Utilities

  • 4 Large Stone Platforms ( Falls when the player steps on them )
  • 2 Warp Pipes ( Leads to the underwater section, the second one leads to the pipe before Bowser )

Level Strategies

There isn't much of an advice that can be given for this stage, except that the player needs to move quickly to not lose time, as the level is pretty long. The underwater section has been stretched, and moreover, fighting against Bowser can take more time than usual because of the weapon he's holding. It's especially crucial in the last half of the watery section because it's fairly easy to dodge all of the chasing Yellow Cheep Cheeps, and slowing down will just cost you time and put you in danger.

Trivia

  • This is the only level in the game that uses the 'Fart Castle' theme.
  • Speaking of 'Fart Castle' theme, there is an unused fart castle music in one of the files in MF version 2.16.
  • This and Funny Tanks are the only extra levels that copies a mainline world's level and makes it harder.
  • This level, as well as Lost Map-6 are the only castle levels having that red gradient in the background.
