First appearance: World 1-1

Fire Flower is one of the power-ups in Super Mario Bros. and its next games, and one of the most recognizable power-ups, along side the Super Mushroom. They allow Mario to shoot fireballs that can kill enemies without the hesitation to stomp them, alongside killing Bowser pretty quickly. The player needs to not hurt Mario when he is in his Super Mario form in order to make the item spawn.

In Mario Forever, They first appear in World 1-1, and functions the same as the Super Mario games, giving 1000 points if earned.

Effect

Once Mario collects the flower, he will have the ability to shoot fireballs, thus turning him to Fire Mario.

The Fire Flower can be found on a '?' Block (just like every power-up). And in order to make them spawn, the player must not damage Mario when he is in his Super Mario form by touching enemies or hazardous projectiles. If Mario touched the flower, he will turn to Fire Mario, who can shoot two fireballs at once. Despite him only being able to shoot two, these fireballs have the ability to kill enemies without the hesitation to stomp on them, especially Piranha Plant and Spiny, alongside finishing Bowser pretty quickly without the risk of stomping him.

Certain enemies can't be killed with the Fire Flower and these are:

  • Stone Spiny
  • Podoboo
  • Falling Stone
  • Long Piranha Plant (Exclusive to Mario Forever: Advance Edition)
  • Yellow Cheep Cheep
  • Blue Cheep Cheep
  • Roto-disc
  • Thwomp
  • Artillery weapons (Bullet Bill, Spike Ball, Flamethrower)
  • Stupid Cloud

If a fireball was shot after the goal gate and the player reaches it, they will instantly be rewarded with 100 points.
