Super Mushroom is one of the power-ups that made its first appearance in Super Mario Bros. and continues to make other appearances in other installments of it. By the far the most familiar power-up in the series with its appearances in spin-offs and having its own merchandise, it turns Mario to Super Mario, eventually being able to break Brick Blocks and taking an extra hit from enemies. If Mario is Super Mario and he jumped on a '?' Block containing the Super Mushroom, it will be turned into a Fire Flower.
In Mario Forever , it first appeared in World 1-1, and functions the same as the Super Mario games, and gives 1000 points if collected.
Appearance
Super Mushroom has the appearance of a mushroom with a white-spotted reddish cap on the top, and two-dotted eyes below its stem.
Effect
Super Mushroom is usually found in '?' Blocks, and will move to the right side of the level. The player has to be quick to grab the mushroom, or else it would fall through a gap. If Mario collects it, he will turn into Super Mario, who can break Brick Blocks by either his head or ducking. If he was touched by an enemy, he will go back as Small Mario instead of losing a life. However, even in his Super form, Mario won't have an extra hit if he was damaged by:
- Lava
- Gaps
- Poison Mushroom
Alternatively, if Mario jumped on a '?' Block that contains the mushroom while on his Super form, it will instead be a Fire Flower.
