Koopa the Devastator, or Bowser the Devastator (Mario Forever: Community Edition) is an extra level present in Mario Forever and its fan-made remakes, Mario Forever Remake and Mario Forever: Community Edition. This is a very short level, as it immediately starts a Bowser Battle. It can be found in World 2-1.

Finding criteria

To reach it, the player should find two hidden question blocks containing a Coin and a Green Jumping Lui, respectively. Once the player finds both of them, they just need to jump on them as they act as platforms. Finally, they need to enter in the pipe near the Green Lui block.

The pipe in World 2-1 that leads to this level.

Bowser Battle

Fighting Bowser.

Bowser this time has only 5 health points, but breathes 2 flames at once every second, and has a shading effect. Defeating him will give the player around 30 extra lives, depending on the game's framerate (or game speed in Mario Forever: Community Edition).

Dying during this battle will just restart the level, immediately starting the fight again (except for some versions, see Trivia). But without power-ups, the fight will become much harder.

Tips:

Getting a Green Lui or a Fire Flower can be extremely helpful, since sometimes, Bowser jumps and breathes fire at the same time.

With the Green Lui, it's a good idea to try stomping Bowser right after he jumps, while he's moving towards the player.

If the player uses a Fire Flower against Bowser, they have to shoot fireballs while standing in the corner. When the place gets filled up with flames, the player has to either make a perfect jump or sacrifice their power-up.

Level Layout

The layout is exactly the same as World 1-4 Bowser battle arena.

Trivia

  • In some recent versions of Mario Forever (around v5.08 to v6.0), dying in this level backtracks the player to World 1-4, forcing the player to complete the world again.
  • Even though Bowser always fires at least 2 flames, sometimes, both of them can move to the same position, making it look like he fired just one flame.
  • In Mario Forever: Community Edition, getting a game over in this extra level and continuing will backtrack the player to World 2-1.
